Harvey II
Comments Off on Next Gen ‘Harvey II’ Launches with Memory at Its Core
Harvey is launching the next generation of the legal AI platform with its Memory capability at its core, alongside preference setting, context sharing, and learning from both what a law firm’s lawyers and their clients want. The major refresh is branded as Harvey II.
Anique Drumright, CPO, told Artificial Lawyer: ‘Harvey has been on an evolution and this is a big shift in the product. There is a major focus on context and Memory, and how we can leverage Memory and protect ethical walls.’
Artificial Lawyer suggested that this is perhaps similar to the approach of a high-end hotel, where the guests’ preferences are continually learned and responded to in order to provide the most customised experience.
One could then add that this accentuates the value that Harvey can bring. I.e. it’s doing as much as possible above and beyond what any LLM can provide, no matter how complex the model. It’s making its application layer so intertwined with how you work, with your data, your precedents, with working styles and also that of your clients’ preferences, that the ‘experience’ is one that you want to keep coming back to.
The giant LLM makers therefore can roll out whatever models they want – and of course Harvey will tap them as well – but they won’t be able to offer you this level of connectedness and personalisation, or at least that’s how the strategy appears to AL.
Plus, in this case, Memory is not just a general term, but rather a specific learning capability that Harvey has been developing since earlier this year, hand-in-hand with customers.
Here’s a short video about this:
A Harvey production, 2026.
And here’s a quick overview of what Harvey II is all about:
‘Memory: Learns and retains how individual lawyers work, with preferences carrying across Harvey, Word, Outlook, and agents.
Spaces that are built around a matter or project: With the documents, tasks, permissions, and history of the work all in one place.
Smarter agents: Start with the context of the matter or project and your preferences already in place, enabling them to take on more substantive legal work.
Refreshed product experience: Brings matters, tasks, agents, and lawyers together around the work.’
Drumright continued: ‘Memory is all about the ability to learn your preferences – your choice of words, your drafting style, the structure of the work. If Harvey then makes a judgment call it can give answers based on those tailored preferences.’
She then noted that this will extend to client preferences on certain matters and that in turn connected to the context of each matter – which Harvey links to. And then in turn this runs to the Shared Spaces – the collaborative forum – that it offers between a client and law firm.
The net result is that ‘Harvey gets better and better the more you use it. The agents [that you can deploy] get better. So, this is a game changer’, Drumright concluded.
Overall a strategy that makes a lot of sense.
